Daily and weekly
- Vacuum or sweep with a soft brush to remove sand and grit. Sand is the main cause of small scratches.
- Mop with lukewarm water and a neutral (pH neutral) soap, such as a natural soap or a dedicated microcement cleaner.
- Wipe up spilled wine, coffee or oil right away. The top coat is sealed, but you want to avoid long exposure.
What to avoid
- Acidic or aggressive products such as descaler, chlorine, ammonia and scouring agents.
- Scouring pads and steel wool.
- Steam cleaners, the heat and pressure can damage the top coat.
- Leaving large amounts of water standing, especially on a matt top coat.
Bathroom and shower
Rinse the shower briefly after use and squeegee the floor dry. Remove limescale with a mild, pH neutral bathroom product, never with an acidic descaler. That keeps the top coat sealed and the colour even.
Worktops and tables
Use a chopping board and trivets for hot pans. Wipe up grease and acids right away. A microcement worktop is sealed by us with an extra protective top coat as standard.
Refreshing the top coat
Depending on use, the top coat can be refreshed after five to ten years. The floor is lightly sanded and resealed, without demolition and usually within one day. That makes the floor like new again. Contact us if you want to know whether your floor is due.
